Top UAD Guitar Sounds, #2 Fender 55 Tweed Deluxe
Welcome to my Blog. This is the second of a series of videos that I’ll be making where I use my Top UAD Guitar Sounds to record an original song.
Today I’m using the Fender 55 Tweed Deluxe plugin to record a song that I wrote called “Shadow Devil Sister.”
I use the Universal Audio Apollo Twin along with its console software, and I use Protools as my DAW. If you’re interested in it, check it out here Apollo
What I’m gonna do now is solo the tracks outside of the mix. I’ll also breakdown the different presets that I used from the Fender 55 Deluxe tweed plugin for each part.
On the first sound I used the Strat Neck preset for the clean rhythm. I usually just scroll through the presets till I find something I can work with. I adjust the amount of gain that I want, maybe adjust the tone knob a little, then I set the master level to get the right output with out clipping. It’s just that simple.
In Protools I added a stereo reverb bus and used the UA Realverb Pro and dialed in the right amount of reverb to all the guitars.
For the second sound I used the same Strat Neck preset but I used more gain to get that traditional Fender crunch sound. I also used my bridge pickup so its really bright. You can easily roll that off if you like. It’s really sweet that you can get it though.
The third and final sound I use the British Studio Blues preset. I just thought it had a really warm sound. Even with my bridge pickup it was not piercing at all. This plugin has some really good mic configurations. These presets are a great starting point.
I added my Hotone Blues Overdrive to give it just a little more gain for this solo melody track.
Thanks to the Universal Audios’ Unison technology I’m able to plug the pedal right into the interface just like I would with a real amp.
Thank you for watching my second video in my series of Top UAD Guitar Sounds. If you have any questions about any of these plugins let me know in the comments below.
I’m really in love with all of the UA plugins. The majority of my latest album was made with them. Click here for my album "Married To Myself"
I want to thank Universal Audio, and Fender, and Softube for making such wonderful plugins.
I post a new Guitar video every Wednesday so please tune in.
